Senegal has launched preparations for the 2026 Robotics for Good Youth Challenge, a programme designed to develop robotics and coding skills among young people aged 10 to 18. The launch took place on 13 January under the Ministry of Communication, Telecommunications and the Digital Economy, in partnership with FORCE‑N.

The challenge forms part of the AI for Good Summit 2026 which will host its global finals in Geneva. The Senegalese chapter gives young participants the chance to build and programme robots that respond to real‑world challenges. This year’s theme focuses on food security.

Organisers encourage open‑source tools, allowing teams the freedom to design without restrictions. The initiative promotes sustainability through recycled materials and environmentally responsible design. It aims to narrow the digital divide and expand access to robotics education across the region.

The national competition will unfold in phases with winners advancing to the Geneva finals. Other African countries are also participating, including Côte d’Ivoire which will host its event on 21 March in Abidjan.

The Robotics for Good programme is recognised as a platform for developing the next generation of digital problem‑solvers. Participants gain teamwork experience, hands‑on STEM exposure and access to international networks during the finals.
