Editorial policy
What we cover
AI, technology and business in Africa and the world, and how they change health, farming, education, the environment and everyday life. We give a place to good-news stories from civil society that the usual news cycle passes over.
Where our facts come from
We write from primary sources: official announcements, press releases sent to us, government statements, research and the people involved. Each story names its main source and links to it. We use other outlets' reporting only to confirm facts, and credit them when we do.
How stories are written and checked
Our newsroom uses AI tools to help research and draft stories. Every story is checked against its source before it is published: facts, figures, names and quotes must appear in the source, and quotes are used word for word or not at all. Stories that cannot be checked are not published.
Independence
We do not accept payment for coverage. Press releases are treated as information to report on, never as copy to publish. Advertising, when it appears, is labelled and kept separate from the news.
Photos
Photos come from the organisations in the story, or from free-to-use libraries, and every photo is credited.
Corrections
We correct mistakes quickly and say so at the end of the story. See our corrections policy, or write to press@newzroom.africa.
